Uploading and supported formats
Which file types work, size limits, and what to do when an upload fails.
Office, email, calendar, and image files are always converted to PDF for review and OCR. The maximum upload size is 100 MB per file. For very large batches, upload in smaller groups.
How it works
Office and PDF
Converted to PDF for review and OCR
Mail and calendar
Headers, body, nested attachments
Chats and audio
Conversation Redact, not video
Supported files
- Documents: PDF, DOCX/DOC, XLSX/XLS, PPTX/PPT, ODT/ODS/ODP, RTF, TXT, HTML, CSV, EPUB.
- Mail and calendar: MSG/EML, ICS (iCalendar). Email conversion keeps headers, body text, and an attachment inventory in the email PDF.
- Images: PNG, JPG, TIFF, WEBP. Scanned pages use OCR.
- Conversation Redact (when enabled): Teams, Slack, and WhatsApp chats, WebVTT, SubRip, and audio. Video is not supported.
Email attachments
Supported attachments (Office, PDF, images, text, calendar files, and nested emails) are extracted as nested documents under the email in the case. Inline images stay in the message body. HTML and SVG attachments stay on the inventory and are not opened as nested documents. Calendar conversion keeps event title, time, location, organizer, attendees, and description.
When a file fails
If a document shows a Failed status, open it to see the exact reason. Common causes are a scanned file while OCR is temporarily unavailable, or an unsupported or corrupt file. Use Retry only for those processing failures; it starts a full re-scan. If finalize or verification did not complete, stay in review, add or adjust redaction boxes, and finalize again instead of Retry.
