Getting started with Northdocs
Open a Case, review with Fast Track, finalize, and export only after verification passes.
Northdocs is fail-closed document review for FOI, DSAR, and litigation packs. The standard path is Case, Fast Track, Finalize, Export. Download is refused if verification finds surviving sensitive text.
How it works

Fast Track
Accept a person once

Redact or pseudonymize
Verify
Fail-closed
Export hands you a file only after verification. Surviving sensitive text blocks the download.
Do this first
- 1
Sign in and pick an organization
Select or create your organization from the switcher in the sidebar.
- 2
Create a Case for related files
Fast Track identities and pseudonyms stay consistent across the pack. Pick a template (DSAR, FOI, litigation, or RFP) if you want a matching checklist. Dragging a folder onto Cases opens the create dialog with the folder tree: uncheck files you do not want, see unsupported types, and choose flatten or keep nested structure. A one-off upload into Documents skips that roster and is the wrong default for a pack.
- 3
Accept people once
Use the Case identities panel beside the file list to accept a person once across every file, or open a document and use Fast Track. Fast Track opens in Categories. Switch to Identities when one decision should cover a person and their linked details.
- 4
Finalize, then export
Accept or skip detections, then Finalize with Redact (black out) or Pseudonymize per category. Leftover pending items stay visible after a confirm. Each document still verifies on its own before download.
- 5
Open Export
Use Export for watermarks, page numbers, a Document Access Appendix, and rasterize on scans. If you open Export before finalize, the dialog tells you. That warning is the product working.
Academy and later lessons
Academy Getting started walks this path on the demo pack.
- Conversation Redact for chats and meeting audio (on with the plan).
- FOI Case OS on FOI and DSAR templates (Firm and above): clocks, exemptions, and a response memo.
- Prompt Guard on the dashboard wipes clipboard text before you paste into an AI tool.
- Outbound Guard is Outlook send-time protection when mail is the next leak, not the first Academy lesson.
