Business category and optional modules

Tailor Northdocs with a business category and admin-enabled modules. Plan entitlement means you can buy a module; enablement turns it on for your workspace.

Northdocs separates three layers so a module cannot appear by accident. Plan entitlement is the commercial right. Org enablement is an admin turning it on. Availability is both of those being true in navigation and APIs.

How it works

Plan entitlement

You can buy it

Admin enablement

Settings → Modules

Available

Nav and APIs show it

A module shows up only when the plan includes it and an admin enables it under Settings → Modules.

The three layers

  1. Plan entitlement: your Trial, Firm, or Enterprise plan includes the commercial right to a module.
  2. Org enablement: an admin turns that module on under Settings → Modules.
  3. Availability: only modules that are both entitled and enabled appear in navigation and APIs.

What stays on

Core redaction (detect, review, apply, verify, cases, binders on entitled plans) stays on without per-module activation. Conversation Redact is on with Trial, Starter, Pro, Firm, and Enterprise.

Optional modules include FOI Case OS, deadline cockpit, policy packs, ethical walls, privilege log, QA certificates, DMS write-back certification, and production portal. Vendor and RFP detection is an industry pack under Settings → Categories, not a module.

Business category

New workspaces see a short profile wizard for admins: pick a business category (law firm, municipality/FOI, privacy ops, corporate legal, healthcare, vendor/procurement, or other). We recommend modules that fit. Nothing turns on until you confirm. You can skip and configure later.

On plan downgrade, enablement rows are kept but the module becomes unavailable until you are entitled again. Admins can turn modules off at any time. Open Settings → Modules to set a business category, review suggested modules, and turn modules on or off. Suggestions never enable themselves until an admin confirms.
